The poor quality of sleep in children affects not only their learning, but also can influence their behavior and even their physical growth. Children who sleep less than those recommended for their age have a lower potential growth.

"For a child to have a quality sleep it is important to be regular, that is, to lie down and get up at the same time every day, being very important to establish sleep routines, as activities that are carried out at the same time. time to go to bed and before bedtime. One of these routines that can be used is to read a story, "says the neurologist at the Peruvian Institute of Neurosciences, David Lira.

"In addition, being an excellent preamble to sleep, reading a story to a child makes it easier to fall asleep. Likewise, stories have many other advantages in the child's development, since not only do they stimulate their imagination by recreating scenes that they are listening to in their mind, but also by hearing and repeating words mentally, their vocabulary is stimulated; as well as strengthen the emotional bonds between the reader and the listener ", adds the neurologist.

In the same way, it is important to know that when a child is very small, he likes a few stories and, sometimes, he has to repeat it, night after night. When they are a little older, they will ask us to tell them each time a different and long-lasting story; because its capacity to process information is increasing; being necessary that we always have at hand a book suitable for his age.
